When Erika called on Saturday to ask me to join her in a mini baking day for Joe's birthday, I immediately said yes. Usually on our baking days, we attempt to make at least two sweet treats, but since our time was limited, we decided to stick with Martha Stewart's Devil's Food Cupcakes with Chocolate Ganache frosting. Little did we know, these seemingly simple chocolate cupcakes were going to take us 3 full hours to create. After a few snafus with the frosting and a little improvising (with a lot of sugar), we had 35 cupcakes ready to take to Joe's birthday gathering at The Duchess. They were a huge hit with the party (and the bartenders), and we actually managed to make a few of them look somewhat similar to the picture in the book. I even have a few leftover (maybe one for breakfast tomorrow?).
