Ballard Pizza Company

Monday night, David and I headed over to the week old Ballard Pizza Company, Ethan Stowell's newest culinary adventure.  You can imagine our delight when we walked into the restaurant to find Ethan actually making the pizzas in the open kitchen (he's known for actually cooking at his own restaurants, which is refreshing to see from a such a busy man).  Unlike some of his other restaurants (Staple & Fancy, Anchovies & Olives) that tend to be a bit fancier, Ballard Pizza Company is much more casual and laid back - they're even starting delivery in the summer.  We decided to share a "build your own" pizza, and after much deliberation ended up with fennel salami, mushroom, and artichoke.  Even the manager said it looked delicious :)  Paired with a couple of cold beers and the setting sun shining through the open garage doors, it was the perfect spring evening at a place I know will become a staple when trying to decide "what's for dinner?".  Now - which combo to try next?  Tomatoes, garlic confit, and rapini?  Guanciale, arugula, and ricotta?  The possiblities are endless.
