We had a pretty great trip down to San Diego for the long weekend! While the weather was hotter than I could've ever predicted, Leslie and I had a fabulous time eating our way through the city while trying not to sweat too much :) Here's a look at Day 1, if you'd like to see:
I spent Friday morning like this, lounging at the rooftop pool at the W while Leslie worked. It was the most relaxing way to start the vacation:)
After pool time, we had a delicious lunch at Karl Strauss Brewery right around the corner from our hotel. The fish tacos were so yummy.
That afternoon, we walked down to the waterfront to check out the boats and the water {this pirate ship looking one was my fave}
We also checked out the USS Midway, the aircraft carrier docked on one of the piers. It was giant!
We stumbled upon this huge "Unconditional Surrender" statue on the waterfront {see guy to the left for perspective}.
There was also this sweet tribute to Bob Hope that was playing old recordings of his.
After walking around for awhile, we got cleaned up and headed to Vin de Syrah, a really cool hidden wine bar/speakeasy in the Gaslamp. If you're in San Diego, you have to try this place out!
Next, we headed to Bencotto in Little Italy for an insanely delicious dinner. It had been recommended to us by several people and I'm so glad we went.
I had this amazing spicy shrimp and squid ink fettuccine which I could eat over and over and over again. Yum.
We accompanied lots of laughs, girl talk, and catching up with many glasses of wine, and it was a great way to start a long and hot San Diego weekend!
xoxo,
stephanie marie
