Memorial Day

We had a pretty quiet and chill Memorial Day over here which was absolutely perfect.  After a cloudy morning where we made pizza dough and cleaned up around the house, the sun finally came out so we went for a little walk up to the park to get a bit of fresh air.  Back at home we finished up some yard cleanup then headed up to the roof for margaritas and homemade pizza on the new Kamado Joe.  It was much more chill and easy than the Ooni and I envision many more pizza nights throughout the summer.  We ended the evening saying goodbye to one of our favorite shows, Succession, then headed to bed to get ready for the short week ahead.  I hope you had a great holiday weekend!

Happy {Long Weekend} Friday!

Happy Friday!! It’s been a long week and I’m so excited for a long weekend, hopefully doing a lot of the above. We’re staying in town this weekend and I’m anticipating lots of bbqs, wine, friends, reading, and maybe a few nearby adventures sprinkled in. Lots of relaxing and recharging for the unofficial start to summer - it’s going to be a busy one so I’ll take all the relaxing weekends I can get! Cheers!

Sal Y Limon

Monday evening we headed down to Lower Queen Anne so Christian could get fitted for a suit for the wedding {see below pic of the insane shop during graduation and prom season!}.  Since it was right around dinner time, I decided to walk down with him and take him out to dinner after shopping.  Though we've driven past Sal Y Limon on Mercer a million times and dismissed it as a touristy spot next to the Center, I've seen several really good reviews on Instagram recently so we decided to give it a shot and see what the fuss was about.  Boy are we glad we did!  We started with a spicy margarita and spicy Paloma, and when the waiter asked what level of spicy we wanted {1-5} we knew it was no joke.  I love a spicy drink but these ones were actually SPICY {even at a level 3} which just goes to show they weren't messing around.  My burrito with carne asada was, to my surprise, one of the best I've ever had and Christian's enchiladas were also amazing judging by our completely empty plates at the end {I'm glad we had to walk back up the hill after dinner because we were FULL}.  Despite this place needing a better marketing campaign and signage out front, I think we've found a new favorite spot in Seattle that we'll definitely be coming back to.  Actually, maybe they should keep things just as they are so that no one else discovers them :). If you're looking for some delicious Mexican food and spicy yummy drinks, look no further!

T-Ball Saturday

Saturday afternoon I headed down to Ballard to watch the two cutest little guys, Charlie and Elliott, play t-ball.  It was a perfectly sunny day to watch these buddies and all of their little friends out on the field running around, kicking the dirt, chatting away, and having the best time.  Seriously - is there anything better than watching little ones playing sports?  After the game I headed over to Erika's for a glass of wine on their patio and to spend the afternoon hanging out with the kiddos and some of my favorite friends.  It was a wonderfully spontaneous Saturday afternoon that made me excited for more like this as the weather continues to shine.

Work Anniversary

Today marks 1 year at my job and believe me when I say that this year has flown by.  If you had asked me a few years ago if I would be 100% working from our guest room and would have never once met my boss or new coworkers except through a computer screen I would say you were crazy, but such is post-pandemic life.  While it has been a struggle to learn a new job and new company while being 100% remote and I miss the in person interactions and hallway chats with colleagues, I'm incredibly grateful that this place took a chance on me and that I'm able to have a flexible schedule that allows me to run out and grab last minute groceries on a Monday morning or work from halfway around the world over the Christmas holiday.  It's not always easy or glamorous {most days I'm working in sweatpants and making breakfast with my laptop set up next to the stove} but I'm thankful to have this job and all it's taught me {and the wonderful coworkers from many years ago that I've reconnected with this past year}.  Cheers to a year of taking chances and trying new things - I can't wait to see what the next year will bring!
