Friday Harbor {Ferry Ride & Downriggers}

Mom and I said awhile back that if the weather was decent enough we could head out to Friday Harbor for the day on Mother's Day weekend and boy did we luck out.  With the temps pushing 80 it almost felt too hot for May, but we honestly couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous day to enjoy a ferry ride and walk around the harbor.  Christian had never been to the San Juans so I was excited to show him around one of my favorite places and I'm pretty sure he left a lover of island life {judging by the real estate brochures he brought back with him}.  We got up early Saturday to catch the 9:30am ferry and the ride out to the islands was absolutely stunning with the views of Mt. Baker, the calm seas, and ferries criss crossing throughout the sound.  We arrived at Friday Harbor around 10:30 and even though it was early we immediately headed to Downriggers overlooking the Marina to be second in line for an outdoor lunch when they opened at 11am.  We had the most beautiful views overlooking the boats {see below} and instantly ordered some yummy cocktails {it's 5 o'clock somewhere} and the most delicious Dungeness crab tater tots that I'm already trying to figure out how to replicate at home.  Our entrees were all so yummy and gave us fuel for exploring the area for the rest of the afternoon.
