Labor Day Sailing

Happy Friday!  Here are a few pics to round out the Labor Day Weekend festivities.  We headed out to the boat Sunday morning to try to beat the rain and take 'er out for a spin around the islands.  We got out of the marina and put the sail up, getting the boat going at almost 4.5 mph on wind power alone while Mom fed us snacks from below deck.  It started getting pretty choppy and windy and after pulling and pulling the ropes and not knowing what I was doing, we finally got the boat stable and back into the marina unharmed {phew}.  After the adventurous sail we headed for a drive through Anacortes and out to Washington Park where we walked around and admired the views of the islands and calm waters {where were those when we were out there??}.  It was a lovely and eventful afternoon out on the boat!

Boats Afloat Show

Saturday morning between rounds of rain we decided to head over to the Boats Afloat Show on Lake Union and do some dreaming {thanks for the tickets, Ryan!}.  We've been a few times and it always amazes me how beautiful and giant some of these boats are {my fave was a $4 million yacht more luxurious and spacious than most homes I know of}.  We certainly lucked out with the weather and it was fun to stroll along the lake on a sunny fall afternoon, dreaming of boats and soaking up the sunshine.

Father's Day

Sunday morning, anticipating a gorgeous first day of summer, we decided to head north and spend Father's Day with the family.  We made a quick trip out to the beach to say hi to Gram & Gramps {and have strawberry shortcake}, then headed out to the marina to spend the afternoon on dad's boat.  There were a few issues with the motor/gas/something, so instead of heading out on the open water we just chilled in the marina, eating snacks and enjoying the glorious {and hot!} sunshine.  We wandered around looking at other boats for a bit, then ultimately made our way back to my parent's before the long drive back to the city.  It was a quick trip up north, but one I'm so happy we made!

Happy Father's Day, Dad!

A Birthday Sail

The day after my birthday we headed up north for a lowkey bday weekend at my parents and to check off a few things from our Summer To Do list.  First up was to go sailing out in the Sound, so we picked up some takeout at Anthony's Cabana and took it to the boat to pair with some drinks and beautiful views.  After finishing our meals, we headed out for a quick sail, checking out a few islands and seeing the beautiful Mt. Baker peaking out from a distance.  The weather was perfect for being out on the water and our evening went way too fast.  After sailing we headed back to Mom & Dad's for some homemade birthday cake {thanks Mom!}, Schitts Creek, and to bed early - the best kind of night :)
