For Cinco de Mayo, we decided to keep it low key and stay home with tacos and margaritas. I had known for weeks that I wanted to make these awesome Chicken Street Tacos, and when a recipe for The Best Skinny Margarita of Your Life found it's way to my email inbox last week, I knew they would be a perfect compliment to the tacos :) I also whipped up a batch of my most favorite salsa, and when you put it all together, we had quite the fiesta! While I mixed up the taco filling, Christian whipped up the delicious margaritas for our yummy dinner to watch more of our current fave, Westworld. Halfway thru dinner, we noticed the sky turning an amazing shade of pink at sunset, so we ran up to the roof to snap some pretty pictures and take in that beautiful Seattle sunset. It was a perfect low key holiday at home - I'll take any excuse for tacos and margaritas!

Last night I was glued to E! to watch the Red Carpet from the Met Gala. Call it crazy, call it over the top, call it weird, but the fashion on the first Monday in May is nothing short of FIERCE. The theme of "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" guaranteed drama on the carpet, and these celebrities did not disappoint. What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall at this exclusive event, if only just to be in the presence of such fabulous creations {if you want more info on what goes into creating this gala, watch The First Monday in May - it's awesome}. Here are a few of my favorite looks from last night - you couldn't wear these anywhere but the Met!

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Mine was perfectly low key, including lots of long walks, yummy food, new cocktails, and making plans for the summer while enjoying the amazing Seattle sunshine. One of my favorite parts though? Walking into Christian's house on Friday evening before dinner to find he had cut some beautifully fragrant lilacs {shhhh - don't tell the neighbors} just for me because they're my fave. Every time I walked by them this weekend, I stopped to take in one of my absolute favorite scents. Sometimes the little things are the best things :)

Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend? I have a date with some tacos and margaritas tomorrow, but besides that I'm hoping for some puppy walks, sleeping in, and catching up on Westworld {have you watched? After Jet City we were all starving so we headed down to SoDo to Derby, an Ethan Stowell restaurant located in The Shop, a fancy car and motorcycle club that houses some of the coolest, oldest, and fanciest cars I've ever seen. We arrived late for lunch and early for dinner, but their happy hour menu looked good enough for us so we stayed. While we waited for our food, we took a stroll through the garage where I snapped these pics of beautiful cars I could only ever dream about driving, let alone owning. Christian was completely in awe as we wandered around the garage, picking out favorites and drooling over classics. Once our food was ready, we headed back to the restaurant to inhale what we all decided was one of the best burgers in the city {and only $9 at happy hour!}. It was so delicious I ate it too fast to get a pic, but you'll just have to take my word for it and head down to Derby to try it out for yourself!

This weekend, in an effort to get out exploring and not spend the entire weekend Netflix-ing {not that there's anything wrong with that} I suggested we head to one of my favorite places, Charles Smith Wines Jet City. Christian's sister and brother in law decided to come with us, so Saturday afternoon we set out for south Seattle and wine. Charles Smith makes some fantastic wine {I've visited several times and often pick up bottles of those recognizable black and white labels and have never been disappointed} and the ambience at Jet City is so cool and laid back that I love tasting their harder to find wines there. Christian and I decided to share both of their tasting menus to really maximize our experience, and a few hours later walked out of the tasting room with several bottles of nice wine {whoops!}. It was a fun and chill way to spend a rainy afternoon, and I can't wait to spend more summer weekends there - wine club perhaps?

I cannot believe I'm typing this, but this fabulous little lady is 10 today!! Oh Abby - I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday {but nope - it was 10 years ago!} and even though we're far apart, your fun-loving, fashionable, sweetest self is felt all the way over here in Washington. You're not a little kiddo anymore - you're such an awesome young lady - but no matter what, you'll always be a little munchkin to your Auntie Stephie :)
