Date Night {Sitka & Spruce and Tavern Law}

When I heard last fall that Sitka & Spruce would be closing it's doors for good, I knew Christian and I had to go try it out while we still had a chance.  It had been years since I had dined there {almost 8 to be exact} so I made us reservations for the Friday after Christmas for a little after-holiday date to look forward to.  The food was yummy and the service nice {when they took too long with my glass of champagne, she gave me a glass and a half to make up for it} but what I'll miss most about this iconic Seattle restaurant is the atmosphere in Melrose Market - it truly is one of the cutest, coziest little spots to dine with big windows in the summer and low lighting in the winter and it is sad that it's now gone.  After dinner we decided to go grab another drink so after walking all over the hill we finally stopped at Tavern Law where I used to go all the time back when it opened.  I'm not sure when $20+ cocktails became the norm {yikes!} but it was still fun to sit at this nostalgic spot and drink fancy cocktails while we reminisced about the holidays and made plans for the year to come.  Hopefully it includes more date nights {and less restaurant closures}:)
