Honeymoon {Positano}

The most famous town on the Amalfi coast is Positano, so after our boat ride we freshened up at the hotel and headed over to visit.

There's a small bus that goes between Positano and Praiano so we picked up some tickets from the tobacco shop and made our way on the quick {and sometimes scary} journey to Positano.

We arrived in the late afternoon, assuming we'd wander around a bit then find somewhere for dinner.

We admired the beautiful buildings piled on top of each other....

....and meandered the windy streets down to the beach....

.....checking out some local tourist shops along the way.

While Positano is beautiful....

.....it is CROWDED.  These pictures don't do it justice, but the shop-lined alleyways were FULL of people....

.....which made it a lot less enjoyable for us.

While Positano was breathtaking from afar....

.....up close it looked like the ultimate tourist trap with overpriced souvenirs, restaurants packed with people, and mediocre food and service.

Our New Zealand neighbors had been to the infamous Chez Black {above} the night before after hearing all of the celebrity reviews and were super disappointed with the quality of the meal, not to mention the prices.

At least it was sunny....

....and we could say we spent some time in Positano!

I mean, it is pretty spectacular to see.

But maybe better from the water?  We were VERY happy we had decided to find a hotel in a smaller town on the coast - I couldn't imagine paying the hotel prices in Positano only to be surrounded by so many people.

Since I had put on my pretty red honeymoon dress, I made C take some pics :)

Cheese!

And of course let him get in one too.

We decided to grab a drink at a very touristy bar right on the beach, which was again overpriced but had a nice view.

As the sun was setting, we decided we didn't want to stay in Positano for dinner.....

.....so I called ahead to a restaurant in Praiano and they said they'd put us on the list for about an hour from then.

We wandered back up the hill towards the bus stop.....

......and there were SO many people waiting in line to get on the tiny bus {which is on it's own schedule}.  Nobody really tells you how hard it is to get from town to town on the coast.....

.....so we were lucky to grab some standing room spots on the next bus back to Praiano {even though riding on those roads you put your life in the hands of the drivers!}.

It was a gorgeous sunset on the way home....

.....and we got to Praiano just in time to catch it.

Not a bad view from a perch in Praiano!

I'm so glad I called ahead to Kasai as they had one table waiting for us inside, and as the night wore on the line outside for a table grew longer and longer {but they offered everyone waiting a glass of Prosecco which was nice}.

We split a bottle of local wine, which was delicious.

Cutie husband.

We started with a tuna tartare, which was excellent.

Christian got a local pasta with red squid....

.....and mine with shrimp, potatoes, and green beans was so delicious {once again!}.

We were so happy with Kasai {way better than what we would've found in Positano, I'm sure} and funny enough as we were enjoying our dinner, 5 of the 7 other people from our boat tour earlier in the day were there as well!  Talk about a great recommendation {and a very small town}!  We all had a laugh about seeing each other there :)

Back at the hotel we decided to try some local limoncello {one of the things the Amalfi coast is known for} so the wonderful women working there poured us a chilled little glass to bring up to our room for a nightcap.  A perfect way to end a great day!
