Honeymoon {Ravello}

The next morning in Praiano we woke up with a plan to take an early bus to the town of Amalfi, then take another bus up to Ravello, a quiet town at the top of the hills that I had heard was beautiful and well worth the trip.

Buses on Amalfi are not for the weak.

A typical day on the Amalfi highway.

We arrived in Amalfi to beautiful blue skies and CROWDS.  Apparently, we were not the only people with this idea.

We waited at the bus stop with hundreds of other people vying for just a few seats on the bus up to Ravello {that rarely showed up}.  After awhile we started talking to some other people in line and they joked that if you had the right shoes, there was a path up to Ravello that you could walk, and I could instantly see Christian's wheels turning.

So we gave up on the bus and started walking....

....making our way to Atrani....

....thru the tunnel...

....and local restaurants.

Atrani was a beautiful little fishing town with hardly any people.

So we checked out some online maps....

....and started walking....

....up stairs...

....and more stairs.

It was a beautiful and quiet hike going through the town....

....and running into hidden kitties everywhere.

Once we got past the village, it was like we were in a whole different world.

This smile betrays the complaining I was doing, but had I known we were going on this hike I probably would not have worn jean shorts and carried a purse :)

But it really was quite spectacular.

It was insanely quiet up there.....

.....and we didn't run into any people or cars for what felt like hours.

A more accurate depiction of how I felt.

This area was so interesting - everything felt abandoned with run down farmhouses and doorways that led to nowhere.

But it was so peaceful.

We kept following the signs....

.....up more stairs....

....until we finally made it to Ravello!

And were greeted by so many more kitties.

The town of Ravello is so quiet, with far fewer people {maybe because it’s so hard to get to}....

.....and a beautiful cool breeze up on the mountain.

And the views weren't too bad either!

I was so proud of us for making it up there....

....there were definitely times I didn't think we'd make it!

But those views were worth it.

After wandering around town a bit more....

.....we were starved so decided to grab lunch at Babel, a wine bar and art gallery that had great Google reviews and was Giada approved.

We ordered some much deserved cold beers and wine....

....and while C went with the lemon pasta....

....I got delicious raviolis covered in ragu.  It all hit the spot.

After lunch we wandered the streets a little more....

....checking out the town square and shops....

.....and marveling at just how peaceful it was.  If you end up on the Amalfi, I highly recommend a trip to Ravello!  But maybe try to catch the bus if you can :)

I decided the hike deserved a treat.....

.....so we got a gelato to share, which was the perfect way to end our visit to Ravello!
