Happy Father's Day

Dad - Happy Father's Day!  Thanks for teaching me the important stuff - like always wear closed toed shoes when I operate heavy machinery, cookies for breakfast are totally acceptablt, laugh 'til your stomach hurts, 90% of short putts never go in, and a glass of red wine makes everything better.  I'll say it over and over - you truly are the best Dad in the world.

Love ya!

Roaming the Garden {Peonies}

When my dad told me that what was sprouting out of the ground right in front of my front door were peonies, I was ecstatic.  Peonies are one of my absolute favorite flowers {Nana used to grow the prettiest in her yard} and the fact that they were already right there waiting for me was such a great surprise.  I have two peony bushes - one had 1 bud and the other had about 15 {how does that happen??}.  They are the prettiest sight to walk up to every day after work, and though some have started to shed their petals, I picked a few blooms to keep in my house for as long as I can - they smell amazing.  I mean, really - what is better than fresh flowers picked from your own garden?

Best Night Ever {Round 2}

Remember about a year and a half ago when I planned the Best Night Ever for David?  Well, for the past year and a half I've been bugging him that it's his turn to plan, and this past Friday he came through.  This round of Best Night Ever sure blew mine out of the water, but I guess that just means the next one will be even better!  This time around, David wrote actual clues for me to guess where we were going {it definitely took me several clues before I started guessing correctly} and they took us on an adventure around The Waterfront, Pioneer Square, the U District, Fremont, North Lake Union, and Ballard.  The theme was "The World is Your Oyster" and, as you can guess, a lot of oysters were consumed that night.  We crossed 3 restaurants off my list of places I've really wanted to try, and I seriously could not wipe the smile off my face all night.  It was a pretty epic evening {dare I say, the best?}, and there is no one else I'd rather gallivant around the city with than David :)  Here's a look at our awesome adventure:

"if you want to be a professional pony-better, you're gonna have to get on a horse!" {waterfront carousel}

"sigh!  you're in for a real treat" {oysters and wine at bar sajor}

"it may not be a magic carpet ride, but you can still close your eyes if it's better" {a ride on the great wheel}

"i'll be frank - it'd be real shellfish of me to not take you here" {fried oysters and wne at Frank's Oyster House and Champagne Parlor}

{though not technically a clue, we decided to fill up on Blue Moon Burgers in between oyster stops at one of my favorite places on Lake Union}

"two fishers went sailing away to the west, away to the west as the sun went down" {oysters and cocktails at westward}

"back to where it all began....can you deal?" {pool and beers at the 4B's - the ending spot of our last BNE}

Thanks again David - it truly was the Best Night Ever!

Dad's Birthday Weekend

This weekend, Shaun and I both headed home to celebrate Dad's birthday with the family.  It was pretty low key - brother and I made dinner at home Saturday night, then headed out to spend time with the Satterlund kids {it felt like I was back in grade school - nothing had changed and it was soooo great to catch up}.  Sunday morning, we took Dad out to brunch at the Sports Keg, where we cheers'd with mimosas {I had no idea the back patio there was so nice!} and also celebrated Grandma and Grandpa's anniversary.  Though it's a rarity these days, it's so great when the 4 of us can spend time together, especially celebrating someone we love :)

 i brought cupcakes from cupcake royale and they were gone in about 8 seconds

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy {almost} Birthday Dad!  You're the absolute best - I couldn't have picked a better dad if I tried.  Thanks for being there to help me with the fun stuff {new house!} and the not so fun stuff {um, who breaks a sink?!}.  You are an amazing role model and friend, and I love ya more than you know.

Comfort {Glassybaby}

It's hard to capture the gorgeous peach color of this Glassybaby {especially when I wait until dusk to take it outside to shoot - oops} but I promise you, it's one of my faves.  Sweet Ashley bought it for me when Nana passed away, and it's name, Comfort, is so perfect.  Every time I look at it sitting on my dining table, I think of how lucky I am to have such thoughtful friends who really care.  It really is quite comforting :)
