Happy Birthday Week To Me!

Today is the last day of my 30's - where did the time go?!?  It feels like just yesterday I was welcoming this new decade with a fiesta and friends and now it's time to say farewell and jump into the 40's.  I'm off for the rest of the week to celebrate east of the mountains with good wine, good food, and a change of scenery to welcome what I hope is my best decade yet {despite it being a rough year, 39 did bring me one of the best days of my life - see above - so I can’t be too mad at it}.  Cheers to being 40 and fabulous!

Happy Birthday Brother!

Happy Birthday {tomorrow} little brother!  While our communication these days is mostly Instagram memes about being a sibling or a millennial {which are all eerily accurate}, I'm so grateful for our quick driving chats, puppy pictures, and especially for having you by my side as the best maid man of honor ever.  Cheers to you kid - hope you have the best day with your little crew!

Bizarre Brewing

Sunday afternoon C and I decided to go for a drive and wound up at Bizarre Brewing in Magnolia, a new to us brewery in my old ‘hood. Only a handful of other patrons were there so we settled in with some yummy light beers {their specialty} on the outdoor patio, taking in the sun and the quiet. The beers were great and I loved that this little place is a bit hidden and not nearly as crowded as the Ballard breweries - we’ll definitely be back!

Staycation {Part II}

Saturday morning we headed back over to the mall to do a little bit more shopping, then drove out to Woodinville for lunch at The Restaurant at DeLille Cellars, which we've both been wanting to try.  I had made reservations inside knowing it would be hot, but when we saw all their cute patio tables had ample umbrella coverage they agreed to move us out there so we could enjoy the warmth without getting burned.  We enjoyed crisp cool wines along with homemade foccacia, then devoured our salads and sandwiches which were just about perfect.  It was such a fun little getaway with my mama and a tradition I'm excited to continue!

Staycation {Part I}

This past weekend Mom and I had our annual girls weekend in Bellevue {2 years counts as tradition, right?}.  We drove to the eastside Friday afternoon for our night at the Westin where we checked in then headed over to Bellevue Square for a bit of shopping.  We wanted to try somewhere new for dinner so decided to go to The Bravern for happy hour at John Howie where we enjoyed yummy cocktails paired with the tenderloin bites and the biggest burger I've ever seen {which I'm so glad we split}.  After dinner we did a bit more shopping before heading back to the hotel for foot masks, cheesecake, and HGTV - the perfect evening!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!  I'm heading out early this weekend to head over to Bellevue and spend a fun few days shopping and eating with my mama.  The weather should be gorgeous {and maybe a few degrees cooler please?} and it'll be nice to switch up the scenery a bit and go on a mini stay-cation.  Cheers to the weekend!

Urban Hiking {Lake Union}

For this past weekend's installment of urban hiking we got up a little earlier, brought our own water, and decided to go a bit longer all around Lake Union.  Even though it was so hot out, I love walking around the lake getting to see all the hidden little beaches and houseboats that you typically miss from a car.  Our actual destination was the new Gasworks Brewing but the line was too long and there were no more tables left in the shade so we decided to head next door to the city's best kept secret, Bowriders Grill.  We were told that food would be an hour {we were really hoping to try those delicious salmon tacos again} so we decided to skip lunch and enjoy an ice cold beer instead while watching the boats and staying cool in the shade.  It was a great way to spend a Sunday and I can't wait to get back out there when it's not so busy and try the new brewery!
