Figurehead Brewing

Saturday afternoon in an effort to get out of the house we headed over to Fremont to grab some bread at our fave bakery and walk around a bit. After running errands we decided to hide from the mini rainstorm at Figurehead Brewing on Stone Way. I used to go to the one near my house in Magnolia but this was my first time at the new location where they serve yummy Belgian-style beers in a chill atmosphere. It was the perfect afternoon escape and I can’t wait to go back next time and try the ramen truck housed in their space - a perfect rainy day activity!

Urban Hiking {Leschi & Madrona}

Lately for our urban hikes we've been driving somewhere different to explore in the city and change up the scenery a bit.  This past weekend we ventured over to Lake Washington Blvd to take in the trail by the lake along Madrona and Leschi.  We parked right next to Kurt Cobain's house and took in the memorials next door, then headed along the lake admiring the views and vowing to come back to the parks with a picnic.  Once we made it to Leschi we decided to head back a different route, through the beautiful homes and quiet streets of Madrona {one of my favorite neighborhoods}, admiring the giant homes and steep streets.  Once we got back to our car we decided to make a pit stop at Chuck's Hop Shop to grab a quick beer before heading back home for the rest of the holiday.

Bizarre Brewing

Sunday afternoon C and I decided to go for a drive and wound up at Bizarre Brewing in Magnolia, a new to us brewery in my old ‘hood. Only a handful of other patrons were there so we settled in with some yummy light beers {their specialty} on the outdoor patio, taking in the sun and the quiet. The beers were great and I loved that this little place is a bit hidden and not nearly as crowded as the Ballard breweries - we’ll definitely be back!

Elliott Bay Beers

Friday afternoon after a long week at work we decided to get out and enjoy the sunshine, not knowing if it would stay around for the weekend {it didn't}.  We headed down to Maggie Bluff's to grab a beer on the patio, but when we found out the patio was full, the bartender said we could get a to-go beer to enjoy while we waited for a table basically anywhere in the marina {she likened the marina to a mini-Vegas}.  Since we weren't set on an actual table, we purchased those to-go beers and ended up walking down to the beach at the other end of the marina where we could sit on the rocks with only a few other people around and enjoy our beers with a beautiful view while soaking up the sunshine.  I loved that we didn't have to sit at the restaurant to enjoy our yummy drinks and I envision many more sunny afternoons down at the beach doing exactly this.
