Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! Can every weekend be a 3 day weekend? It's been a fun and busy week crossing things off my list and getting to see some good girlfriends so I'm excited for a relaxing weekend to just chill at home and catch up here. Maybe do a little baking with the rhubarb I inherited from mom & dad last weekend? Also - can you believe this weekend is June? Where does the time go?!? Have a great one!

Memorial Day Weekend {Part III}

After a yummy breakfast in the valley we headed back to the city early to avoid the holiday weekend traffic. Once home we decided to stretch our legs for a long walk around the neighborhood, where it was blue skies and sunny {and we got to partake in one of our new favorite weekend activities - open houses}. Afterwards we hung out on the roof and ate half of a watermelon {so good} and then bbq'd a delicious steak as the perfect way to unofficially kickoff summer. We ended the weekend with ice cream and caramel sauce on the couch watching our current shows - the perfect end to a wonderful long weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend {Part II}

On Sunday after a yummy pancake and bacon breakfast we decided to head out to Christianson's for opening day of their summer Farmer's Market. It was the most gorgeous day and it was so fun to walk around listening to the band and checking out the stalls while reminiscing on our wedding there almost 2 years ago. After sufficiently checking out every area of the nursery we headed out for a quick stop at a local plant sale {where C made a new dog friend} then C and I headed to the South Nut for a beer outside to enjoy the summer-like weather. Once we decided to stay an extra night we headed out for dinner at Shawn O'Donnell's before heading back home for movie night!

Memorial Day Weekend {Part I}

We spent most of Memorial Day weekend up north which was a perfect mix of relaxing and fun. After sitting in a lot of traffic on Saturday morning we made it just in time for me to head to a bridal shower for Emma with lots of family, spending the afternoon getting excited for her upcoming wedding. Afterwards we headed back to the parents to build a fire table, check out the new greenhouse, eat a yummy dinner, and drink wine around the fire. The day was unexpectedly summer-like and it was the perfect way to celebrate the unofficial start to summer.

Happy Birthday Lily!

Happy 2nd Birthday {tomorrow} to sweet Lily! Lily - you are the sweetest and toughest little lady I know and I love watching you grow and play with your big brothers. I can't wait to see you again Lil - Happy Birthday to you!! We love you!

Norm

I was saddened to read about the death of George Wendt this week, but it reminded me of such a sweet story from meeting him. Back in 2007 {I found the article online to verify the date} my friend Amanda and I went to see 12 Angry Men at the Paramount starring George Wendt and afterwards we went to the old Von's {remember when it used to be down the street from the theater?} for a drink. Well, sitting in the bar {as you'd expect Norm from Cheers to be doing} was George Wendt himself! You could tell that other patrons in the bar were looking at him and trying to decide if it was indeed him, but we knew it was since we had just seen him on stage. Amanda told our waiter to send him a beer from us and after he got his drink he got up from the bar and came over to our table to say thank you. We told him how much we loved him in the show, and he ended up sitting down at our table and chatting with us about the show, his career, our lives - he was just a normal guy having a beer with us and being super sweet to some young fans. As time went on more actors from the show arrived at the bar and sat with us and after a little bit, Mr. Wendt said goodbye and thank you and headed back to his hotel. It was such a random, fun night meeting an incredibly genuine and kind star {he definitely didn't have to come say thank you and he certainly didn't have to sit down and chat with us}, and even though it was back before we had cameras with us at all times to take pictures to "prove" we met him, I'll always have the memory of meeting Norm from Cheers. Hope there's a big beer waiting for him on the other side :)

700 Strong

Last week I hit a milestone of 700 strength classes on the Peloton app! With having to take several extended breaks over the last year, I'm really proud of myself for sticking with this routine of waking up before work and getting in a 20 or 30 minute workout of lifting weights - I love feeling strong and healthy {I even invested in some heavier weights this year to up my game} and it helps not only my strength but also my mental health by pushing myself every day and moving my body. I don't take for granted that I have a body that can move and lift heavy things, especially as I get older, and as long as I can I'll keep showing up and working out. I have my eye on that 1,000 mark and I'll keep pushing until I get there!

Yume Sushi

This weekend I was craving some sushi so we decided to hit up a new to us spot in Magnolia that has excellent reviews, Yume Sushi. It's in the old Oliver's Twist space {RIP} and while it's teeny tiny, we managed to get a spot at the sushi bar since the few tables they have were full. We ordered a bunch of things to share and everything was delicious, came out quickly, and was decently priced {to get full on sushi for less than $100 in this city is a feat and we succeeded!}. We could also tell that they were doing a really good takeout business so it's great to know the next time the craving hits we can call in an order and pick it up to go! All in all it was a wonderful way to spend a rainy Saturday evening with my love :)
