April Date Night {Part II - Melinda & Reese}

The real reason for our date night last week was to go see Melinda French Gates in conversation with Reese Witherspoon at The Paramount to discuss her newest book, The Next Day.  We arrived early to grab our books and check out all the swag and inspirational booths in the lobby, then took our seats to listen to a beautiful conversation between Melinda & Reese about motherhood, womanhood, loss, and transition.  We both loved listening to them {C keeps quoting Melinda back to me when I'm making decisions or having a tough day} and it was so inspiring to be surrounded by so many likeminded women {and a few great men} on a beautiful evening in Seattle.

April Date Night {Part I - Betty}

I know we already did a date night at Betty earlier this year, but we loved it so much and knew it would be the perfect start to a fun date night in the city.  Last week we decided to stop by Betty for happy hour and dinner on their back patio on a gorgeous spring day instead of fighting the crowds downtown before our show.  I've never been on their patio but loved it as it was quiet but also shady, which is perfect when the sun is just a bit too warm.  We had the smoked salmon and tzatziki with crostini from the happy hour menu {along with some discounted drinks} then C got his favorite burger and I opted for the Crow lasagna {RIP Crow}.  It was the perfect start to a fun date night and I love that it's finally getting to be patio weather - nothing better than enjoying a yummy meal outside!

Bar Miriam {Easter Evening}

Sunday evening after a long and rainy drive home we felt the need to get out and stretch our legs, so after unpacking the car we decided to go for a walk to Bar Miriam just a few blocks away.  Since it was Easter evening it was super quiet {shocking since this place is always packed} which made it the ideal day to have a yummy cocktail, hide from the rain, and prepare for the week ahead {their menu right now is Wayne's World themed and I got the "What'm I Gonna Do With A Gun Rack" and C got the "Totally Amazing Excellent Discovery" - both delicious}.  One of the things I love about living in the city is having these awesome spots within walking distance and even though we don't take advantage of them as much as we should, I'm glad we decided to be spontaneous and grab some fun cocktails just the two of us to end the weekend :)

Tulip Fields

You already know my love of the tulip fields, but even though we go see them every year and they don't change too much, I still think they are so beautiful, especially in the evening as the sun is setting and there's a soft glow on the flowers.  This year it took us a bit longer than usual to find some fields of tulips outside of the fields where you have to pay {that's a hard no}, but on our last attempt we stumbled upon this field of red where I got out to take some pics {and everyone else stayed in the car taking pics of me}.  It really is such a beautiful place!

El Mezcalito

Friday afternoon the sun was shining and at 70 degrees it was one of the warmest days we've had in a loooooong time.  After work C and I decided to take advantage and walk up to El Mezcalito, a Mexican restaurant on QA Ave that we walk by all the time but have never tried together.  The place was busy {apparently everyone else thought it was margarita weather too} but we grabbed two seats by the open front window and immediately ordered some yummy cocktails and chips and guac.  For dinner we shared the signature Mole Negro Oaxaqueno and the Carne Asada plate and while we agreed we've had better Mexican food, there's really nothing like being able to walk somewhere, sit outside, and have a spicy margarita on a sunny day.  The perfect Friday afternoon!
