Milan {Part V - Last Days}

Our last full day in Milan we of course had to go get our favorite croissants and coffee, then spent the day wandering around the city, through Porta Garibaldi and Chinatown, stopping in at shops and enjoying the sunshine.  We met up with C's family at Sicilian Brera for a late lunch of shared pastas, then headed back to the Airbnb to pack before dinner at his sister's place.  The next morning it was time for 4 of us to make the surprisingly long journey up to Sweden, where we were greeted by much colder weather and some lovely country air.

Milan {Part IV - Eating & Shopping}

After climbing around at the Duomo we were hungry so decided to go a few blocks away from the very touristy area {where we did not have much luck with food} and try this cute little Panini shop with some delicious sandwiches that definitely hit the spot {always a good reminder to walk a few blocks more to find better food!}.  After enjoying our lunch outdoors we decided to walk around the super fancy shops, window shopping and dreaming {and feeling completely underdressed}.  Once back at the Airbnb it was time to change to head out to a birthday dinner for C's parents.  We found Osteria Conchetta, a cute little neighborhood spot near his sister's apartment with great reviews that had authentic Lombardian food we'd been wanting to try.  We stuffed ourselves with Osso Bucco and Saffron Risottos and it was the perfect celebratory meal to end a lovely day.

Milan {Part III - Duomo di Milano}

Back in Milan we had a full day to ourselves, so C and I decided to go to one of the biggest sites in Milan, the Duomo.  We purchased elevator tickets to ride to the top then spent the next several hours wandering around on the roof, seeing as far as we could in all directions and taking in the gorgeous and intricate details of the cathedral that began construction in the 1300's {!}.  Afterwards, we headed down into the church where we took in the massive stained glass windows and the crypt, marveling at what it took to create this gorgeous building.  It was one of my favorite things we did in Milan and I'm so happy we decided to spend the morning exploring this piece of history.
