Happy Friday! I'm heading out early this weekend to head over to Bellevue and spend a fun few days shopping and eating with my mama. The weather should be gorgeous {and maybe a few degrees cooler please?} and it'll be nice to switch up the scenery a bit and go on a mini stay-cation. Cheers to the weekend!
For this past weekend's installment of urban hiking we got up a little earlier, brought our own water, and decided to go a bit longer all around Lake Union. Even though it was so hot out, I love walking around the lake getting to see all the hidden little beaches and houseboats that you typically miss from a car. Our actual destination was the new Gasworks Brewing but the line was too long and there were no more tables left in the shade so we decided to head next door to the city's best kept secret, Bowriders Grill. We were told that food would be an hour {we were really hoping to try those delicious salmon tacos again} so we decided to skip lunch and enjoy an ice cold beer instead while watching the boats and staying cool in the shade. It was a great way to spend a Sunday and I can't wait to get back out there when it's not so busy and try the new brewery!
A few weekends ago in almost 90 degree heat we had the brilliant idea to go for an urban hike in the afternoon. With sweat dripping down my face we made our way across Queen Anne and down to South Lake Union where we were able to find cold water in the MOHAI and watch the boats and planes on the lake while trying to cool down. Afterwards we made our way back towards Fremont {trying to find the shade wherever we could} and sat on a bench at the canal for a few before getting the energy to walk back up the hill to home. It was definitely a warm one - next time we're bringing our own water!
Happy Birthday Kelli!! Thank you for being the only person to confirm I looked like an Oompa Loompa after my wedding makeup trial :) I love you and hope you have a fabulous day!
Happy Friday! While it's been way too hot here this past week, I'm absolutely loving the summer evenings as the sun is going down when it's warm enough to be outside but you're not drenched in sweat. The other night C and I were debating what show to watch after dinner when I suggested that instead we take a little glass of wine up to the rooftop and enjoy the sunset and warm summer air. It was the perfect way to end the day and something I plan on doing at least once a week instead of sitting in front of the tv while the weather allows. Cheers to summer - and the weekend!
