Urban Hiking {Ballard Locks and Skal Beer Hall}

Last Saturday with sunshine in the forecast we decided to go on a fall walk.  We headed towards Magnolia, walking through the Fisherman's Terminal and stopping to talk to local fishermen selling tuna off of their boats.  We continued through the industrial area of my old 'hood to the Locks where we took in the fall colors with the tons of other tourists before crossing the water to the Ballard side.  We stopped in the gift shop of the Nordic Museum {putting the actual museum on our to do list!} then continued on into downtown Ballard where we stopped at Skal Beer Hall for snacks and beer.  After sufficiently fueling ourselves for the walk home, we headed across the Ballard Bridge towards Queen Anne where we passed everyone's Halloween decorations out in all their glory and finished up our 7.5 mile loop.  I think brisk fall walks are my favorite urban hikes and I'm hoping we can get a few more in before it gets too cold!
