When planning our second trip to AZ this year we knew we wanted to get out of Surprise and see more of what Arizona had to offer. We settled on a few nights in Sedona, a town both of us had passed through before but never spent any real time in. We started our drive bright and early on Monday morning and marveled at how the landscape changed so drastically as we got farther from the desert and more into the mountains. We checked into the Star Motel {it was fine for the cheap price and walkable location, but I'd stay somewhere else next time} and were starving from the long drive so we immediately walked the 2 blocks to Sedona Beer Company where we had delicious food and sipped on some yummy local beers. With our bellies full we walked around Sedona for a bit, checking out the touristy shops and the insane views of the red rocks all around us, then decided to drive up to Airport Mesa to take in the gorgeous sunset with hundreds of other people. We met some nice people who offered to take non-selfie pics of us and we basked in the views of the sun reflecting off the rocks before getting too cold and needing to head back for a quiet night at the motel.
