4th of July

This year's 4th of July at Samish Island was once again pretty lowkey with a long and fun parade, yummy oyster nachos, too many loud fireworks, great friends, and so much sunshine.  It was fun to watch the kiddos get so excited about the candy at the parade and since we didn't have quite the crowd as we've had in previous years, it was nice to just sit back and relax while soaking up the sun and trying to hide from the loud booms.  It's always fun to spend time at the beach with loved ones and I'm happy we made it up again this year!

Farmer’s Market Dinner

Last Thursday we needed to grab a few things at the store so we used it as an excuse to stop by the Queen Anne Farmers Market and grab dinner. The market was bustling as a precursor to the holiday weekend but we were there early enough that the food trucks weren’t bombarded quite yet with the crowds. We decided on poke rice plates from Sam Choy’s Poke truck {tuna for me and salmon for C} and brought them home to enjoy on the rooftop on a gorgeous evening. The meals were surprisingly packed with fish, seaweed salad, and rice and we were both full and happy after finishing our dishes. I love that we remembered that it was farmers market night and I can’t wait to go back again!

Urban Hiking {Waterfront}

Sunday afternoon we decided to get out and enjoy the sunshine with an urban hike to the waterfront.  We stopped off at an open house with the above insane view {it was a bit out of our price range} then headed down the hill where we wandered along the water to the new stairs by the aquarium.  We braved the crowds and headed up to the Market where we grabbed some snacks from Piroshky Piroshky that fueled our walk back up the hill to home.  It was a beautiful day to be outside enjoying the new public spaces in Seattle!

PS - I'll be off for an extra long weekend - but have a great 4th, and stay safe out there!

Felix's 1st Birthday

Saturday afternoon I headed up north to celebrate Felix's first birthday at Samish Island.  I can't believe it's been a year since this little dude was born - he's grown so much and it was so fun to see him and his cousin Carmen playing together and their silly interactions.  It was a beautiful day out on the island and I'm so glad I was able to see everyone for a quick visit!

Happy Birthday Griffin!

I can't believe I'm typing this, but Happy TWENTIETH Birthday Griffin!!  I cannot believe it's been 2 whole decades since you made me an auntie and I hope you have the best day celebrating you.  Love ya G!
