Happy Birthday Susannah!

Happy Birthday {Sunday} Susannah!  You fill my life with so many big laughs, fun adventures, epic dance parties, and heartfelt chats, and I'm so happy that you're now just a car ride away so I can see you and that precious little Theia so much more often.  You are one of my absolute favorites - I love you, you weirdo! :)

Happy {Snowy} Friday

Happy Friday!  Sounds like we're about to get a lot more snow, so I'm looking forward to a cozy weekend bundled up in sweatpants, doing puzzles, watching Netflix, and being extra snuggly.  We've stocked up on all necessary provisions {along with the rest of Seattle at the Queen Anne Trader Joe's - it was insane!} and with the big events of the weekend cancelled due to weather, we're ready.  Bring it on, snowmageddon!  {but also, could it just be spring already??}.

Stay safe and warm out there!

Dear Evan Hansen

Last Thursday, after months and months of waiting, it was finally time to see Dear Evan Hansen at the Paramount.  I've been hearing about this show for awhile, and when it was announced last year that it was coming to Seattle I jumped at the chance to get tickets.  Let me tell you - it did not disappoint.  Set in the present day reality of social media overload and trying to fit in, Evan Hansen makes you laugh and cry throughout the entire show {I'm pretty sure I had tears in my eyes the entire 3 hours}, navigating through the world of adolescence and showing how a small, seemingly innocent lie can change an entire life.  It truly was one of my most favorite shows I've seen and would urge anyone that has the chance to go see it - I'm already trying to figure out when I can see it again :)  You will be deeply moved and thoroughly entertained and will be cheering and cringing long after the show is over.  So, so good.

dinner and drinks at stateside before the show

we got to the theater early for a drink and there was a free photo booth set up that we of course took advantage of

Union Saloon

Last week David and I cashed in our rain check {from me previously being sick} for a dinner date out at Union Saloon.  This cozy spot in Wallingford has huge booths, yummy comfort food, and low lighting, making it the perfect spot to grab some food on a chilly night.  We started with drinks, where my hazy IPA really hit the spot, then got some grilled greens to share with our main courses {my fried chicken with warm potato salad was delicious and enough for leftovers the next day}. We spent the evening catching up and making plans, and though it doesn't seem like I get out to new places that often anymore, I can always count on David to find us a pretty great spot.

Snow Day

Yesterday we had our first official snow day of the season, and man was it cold!  I didn't feel bad about not getting outside - with the wind whipping {I was awoken multiple times throughout the night thinking someone was banging on my screen door, when in fact it was just the angry wind} and the temps hovering in the mid-20's all day, I was happy to be working from my couch in my sweatpants with cups of tea and homemade chili {that I had thankfully made the night before}.  I did venture out very briefly to snap a few pics, but the kids across the street that spent most of the day running around in the yard building frozen snowmen and "enjoying" the below freezing temps are insane ;)

Snowy Weekend

How was your weekend?  Mine was busy, full of old friends, family visits, and lots of snow!  I headed up north on Sunday {missing what would've been my 12th Dipapalooza, but I figured I'd go out on top} and drove through what ended up being Snow-mageddon.  I was thisclose to turning around at Marysville with the car almost sliding through slush and barely being able to see through the wet snow, but I made it to the valley and am so thankful I did.  It was a quick trip north {and a tense drive} but it was totally worth it and to come home to snow falling in Seattle made me happy that at least we get to see it once this season.  More on the weekend later, but here are a few pics of the snow up north {of course, I couldn't take pics of the worst stuff on the drive}.  Here's hoping for a quiet and peaceful week!

Happy Friday

Happy February!  I can't believe how gorgeous {and cold} the weather was earlier this week.  The sunsets and sunrises literally looked like they were on fire, and even though the mornings were oh so cold, I loved getting away from my desk and out for walks by Lake Union in the afternoons - soaking in the sun and watching the boats go by {see above}.  I'm excited for the weekend - a few plans here and there, but mostly just excited for a few days off to snuggle up and enjoy being cozy.

Have a great one!
