Honeymoon {Last Day in Rome}

After our tour of the Vatican, we wandered back to our side of the river for lunch at Salumeria Roscioli, a restaurant I had booked months in advance that came highly recommended.

Though we had originally reserved a table in the wine cellar, we were somehow seated at the deli counter up front, which actually ended up being wonderful.

Christian was so impressed by the cheese selection we were sitting next to that he had to take a selfie.

We started out with a meat and cheese plate to die for - everything was melt in your mouth deliciousness.

I went with my tried and true favorite, Amatriciana.....

.....while Christian had, of course, a delicious carbonara.

We ended the lunch with a complimentary cookie to dip in chocolate, which was the perfect bite of something sweet.

I absolutely loved the set up of this place....

.....and we both agreed it was one of our favorite restaurant experiences of the trip.

If you get a chance to make reservations, definitely check it out!

One more of their cute storefront.

After lunch we needed to go for a little walk....

.....so we strolled the streets....

.....checking out all of the cool old doors.....

....and fun signs....

....and more doors....

.....and lots of ruins next to busy streets.

It was time for a drink, so we stopped for a spritz at a random outdoor bar.....

.....where this street musician entertained us with modern hits on his violin.

We kept wandering as the sun began to set.....

.....walking by the fancy shops....

....housed in cool old buildings.

We walked past the Spanish Steps at dusk, which was beautiful {and still crowded}.....

....and kept spotting golfers all around the city, as the Ryder Cup was getting ready to start.

I love the quiet alleys....

....and the crowded outdoor restaurants filled with people young and old enjoying a meal or apertivo.

We had walked by Hostaria Farnese earlier in the day and since it had a great Google rating, we decided to make a reservation for that night as opposed to wandering aimlessly around trying to find somewhere with an open table that wasn't incredibly touristy.

We grabbed some wine and beers to toast our last night in Rome.....

.....and a few pizzas, just because :)

The next morning we woke up bright and early and took in this view from our front door one last time....

.....grabbed a few pastries for breakfast.....

.....and were off on the next leg of our adventure in Florence!

xoxo,
