Back in August Christian and I headed up north for the day to take dad's sailboat out for a spin through the San Juans with the parents. We started out at the marina in Anacortes and motored out to the islands, with no real plan except to see where the winds would take us on this grey and calm day. Unfortunately there was about negative zero wind {if that's possible} so when we finally got the sails up with the intent of cruising the islands, we sat out in the middle of the bay not going anywhere. It was good practice putting the sails up and down and we kept ourselves busy with beers and snacks, and towards the end of the trip the clouds even parted and the sun was shining. Even though we weren't moving much, any day on the water is a good day in my opinion. After we maneuvered the boat back into the marina, we were ready for dinner in town before heading back to Seattle. I wish we would've gone out to do this earlier in the summer so we had more chances to go sailing - I can't want to try again next year!
