Honeymoon {Amalfi Coast Boat Cruise}

The next morning we woke up to another beautiful day in Praiano, with a delicious breakfast on the patio.

We knew we wanted to take a boat tour of the coast so we asked at our hotel the previous day if they recommended a company and they immediately scheduled us with La Boa, a charter company that picks up and drops off right at the little beach near our hotel, for the next day.

We arrived at the beach to check in, along with our New Zealand neighbors from the hotel and 5 other people, and immediately were heading out on the water with our captain Mario.

The Amalfi coast is staggeringly beautiful and pictures and videos cannot do it justice {but we tried!}.

It is remarkable to see all of the roads and buildings that were built into the rocks on this seemingly treacherous piece of coast....

...and everywhere you looked you could find little hidden alcoves and beach chairs where people found just the right spot to lay claim to a rock.

It's amazing how precariously some of these are built.

Could you imagine walking down this windy path to the beach everyday?

The water was crystal clear....

.....and you could see little fishies swimming around in the blue sea.

Our first major stop was to see Positano from the water....

.....and it was spectacular.

Just like you see in the movies!

It's not a lot of land, but they sure stack those buildings in as closely {and high} as they possibly can.

It was so beautiful there....

....and the sweetest woman on our trip offered to take some nice photos of us.

The boat traffic around Positano alone made you realize just how popular this town is {which we would find out for ourselves later}.

So many fun beach clubs and beautiful houses.

Two happy honeymooners.

One of the reasons we wanted to take one of these boat tours is that they stop along the way so you can swim!

We jumped {slowly} in the water to swim around....

....and it's so salty you can practically float.

It really was amazing, swimming in the Mediterranean in the gorgeous sunshine.

Big Amalfi Coast fans.

We continued along on our boat ride to Li Galli island, a private island with a home, helipad, and church....

....where we got out to swim some more.

It was the best!

We went past the Fiordo di Furore, which had it's own private beach....

....and continued on looking windswept and sun kissed.

Someone on our boat wanted to stop at the Grotto dello Smeraldo, a tiny little grotto that you pay 10 euro each to go in on a very tiny row boat tour {and by tour I mean you go in a circle}.

The water was beautiful and the tour guide hilarious {without meaning to be} but we thought it was a waste of time and money and were much more interested in what was outside on the water.

We continued on our way, floating past Sophia Loren's summer home....

.....and more bright blue water.....

.....and rock arches....

.....and precarious towns...

....to Amalfi!  Mario was excited to show us Amalfi as it's his hometown, and it was just as beautiful as I had imagined.

We continued on to Atrani, which was as far as this boat went, and it looked like the sleepiest town on the coast.

Handsome husband in the Amalfi.

We then turned around and started heading back towards Praiano....

....waving hello to Sophia one more time.

This was our trusty boat for the day, and it was so perfect!  If you're on the Amalfi you have to take this cruise - seeing the coast from the water shows you just how massive and beautiful it is {and why it's so hard to get from town to town}.

Back in Praiano it was time for lunch, so we stopped at Ristorante Franchino along the pathway up from the beach.

It had the most beautiful views overlooking the boats and the beach.....

.....and we were so happy to be there.

I had a delicious pasta with clams, which hit the spot after a long day on the water.

It was one of our favorite days in Praiano {though basically all of the days were a favorite} and we couldn't wait to see what the rest of the day would bring!

xoxo,
stephanie marie
