Our first morning in Praiano we woke up to the sun beating down on our little slice of heaven.
Our hotel came with a delicious breakfast buffet, catered to international tourists but also with some great local food....
....and the most delicious cappuccinos and fresh squeezed juices you could find.
We loved enjoying breakfast on their patio every morning, watching the town come to life and the different languages being spoken around us.
We decided to spend the day exploring Praiano, so we got to walking around this tiny yet steep town {and yes, you walk right along the road like that and hope to not get hit by a speeding car}.
Everywhere you looked there were gorgeous views.....
.....and signs pointing us to all of the other coastal towns.
The artwork....
.....the vespas....
....the house signs....
.....everything was extraordinary!
So cute.
That little cluster of buildings in the background on the right is Positano, which we decided to explore another day.
At the top of this road we did a little photoshoot....
....and I was in absolute Amalfi coast heaven.
The coast is known for their ceramics which we found everywhere and couldn’t wait to purchase.
I also loved the little roadside markets with fresh veggies to grab for the day.
In the afternoon it started to get really hot....
.....so we stopped at Kasai up the hill for a little apertivo in the somewhat shade.
We thought for a minute about renting a scooter for a day, but after watching the traffic and the way the cars and buses drove, we didn't think we'd be able to enjoy it at all.
We made our way back down the hill....
.....and while watching the buses and cars navigating the tight coastal roads, I slipped and fell on the pavement, scratching up my foot and leaving me with a scar souvenir from the trip.
Since it was so hot, we went back to the hotel to change....
.....then made our way down the road about 5 minutes....
....to check out the local beach!
We weren't sure what would await us down this path.....
.....but we were greeted with the most beautiful blue water, boats, and cutest cove to lay out and enjoy the sun.
Breathtaking.
It was a windy pathway to get there....
.....but we arrived at the rocky beach and it was, once again, amazing.
We laid out our towels....
....took a few pics....
.....then hopped in the water for our first swim of the trip!
The water felt amazing after the intense heat of the day....
.....and while it took me a bit to go all the way in, I'm so glad I did. What an experience!
I absolutely loved it there, and I loved that it was a little hard to get to, making it feel extra special.
After swimming for a bit we were hungry, so walked across the way to Il Pirata, a beachside restaurant and beach club.
We ordered a few cooling beers....
.....and some amazing pastas - I got the Scialatielli Scoglio {pasta with seafood} and Christian got the Pasta Nerano {pasta with Parmesan and zucchini}. Both were excellent!
After lunch we wandered around the corner....
....along the path....
....and don't look down!
We found this abandoned nightclub....
....with an excellent little private spot for sunbathing.
After a long day of exploring we were pretty tired so decided to head back up the hill towards our hotel.
We enjoyed the sunset from our terrace while chatting with the lovely couple from New Zealand nextdoor.
We got freshened up and headed out in the dark for dinner.
I found great reviews online for Ristorante M'ama! so we made a reservation that afternoon {everywhere was busy, but as long as you made a reservation that day it was usually pretty easy to get in}.
Christian's pasta with shrimp was delicious....
....but my raviolis with beef short ribs were the real winner of the night - they were fantastic!
After dinner we walked back down the hill to the hotel in the moonlight.
It was such a perfect first full day in Praiano and we already knew we didn't want to leave at the end of the week.
xoxo,
