Revel {Engagement Dinner with the Girls}

Last week these 3 wonderful ladies {Erika. Maddie, & Autumn} took me out to dinner at Revel, one of our old faves, to celebrate my engagement.  They made me feel so special, bringing wedding magazines, flowers, and a giant ring balloon and helped plan and talk about the upcoming wedding {and bachelorette party} for hours.  I've so missed hanging out with these women and am excited for any excuse to connect with them and laugh over great food and drinks.  Thanks again ladies - such a fun night!

Hawks with the Bro

After the high of another Hawks win this weekend {yay!} I wanted to share pics from a few weeks ago when the brother drove over to cheer on the Hawks with me at Lumen Field.  He came over early and we headed up to Queen Anne Ave for breakfast with Christian at the newly reopened 5 Spot, then we dropped C off at home and headed downtown for the game.  Though lots of rain was in the forecast, it held off for us throughout almost the entire game {just a few drizzles here and there} making it a great day for a big Seahawks win over the Giants.  It was so fun to watch the team with my bro and I'm very excited about this little winning streak we have going.  On to Germany!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday!  It seems like we jumped from summer to winter over here - the rains have arrived {and possibly snow next week??}, it's dark and cold, and all I want to do is snuggle up on the couch with a cozy blanket, cup of tea, and a good book.  Luckily, winter also means some of the best chilly sunsets which happened on our walk the other night, so I guess I'm ok with it for now.  Have a great weekend!

Urban Hiking {Ballard Locks and Skal Beer Hall}

Last Saturday with sunshine in the forecast we decided to go on a fall walk.  We headed towards Magnolia, walking through the Fisherman's Terminal and stopping to talk to local fishermen selling tuna off of their boats.  We continued through the industrial area of my old 'hood to the Locks where we took in the fall colors with the tons of other tourists before crossing the water to the Ballard side.  We stopped in the gift shop of the Nordic Museum {putting the actual museum on our to do list!} then continued on into downtown Ballard where we stopped at Skal Beer Hall for snacks and beer.  After sufficiently fueling ourselves for the walk home, we headed across the Ballard Bridge towards Queen Anne where we passed everyone's Halloween decorations out in all their glory and finished up our 7.5 mile loop.  I think brisk fall walks are my favorite urban hikes and I'm hoping we can get a few more in before it gets too cold!

The Ballard Cut

Last week David and I headed out for a night on the town meeting up at The Ballard Cut, a new to me restaurant in downtown Ballard serving yummy food and inventive cocktails.  We sat at the bar and immediately ordered cocktails and fried cauliflower with whipped feta to share {delicious} and my main course of shrimp puttanesca was absolutely perfect.  It was fun catching up on everything from his honeymoon to my engagement for this belated birthday dinner, and though I don't go out to new restaurants nearly as much as I used to, it brought me right back to the good ol' days and made me very excited to see what other new places are out there for us to explore.  Thanks David!
